Informative Speech: My Personal Credibility

Credibility:
I believe that two main things really detracted from my credibility during my informative speech. The first of these things was my personal credibility or relationship with the material. I stated that, “ I have always had a soft spot for animals” at around forty seconds into my speech, but never provided any information on why my audience should trust the information I was providing to them. It wasn’t until later in my speech when I demonstrated my own knowledge of the subject and sited credible sources such as the World Wide Fund for Nature when talking about the Amazon’s role in affecting climate change, The Guardian when discussing the estimated species loss by 2050, and the World Wide Fund for Nature again when discussing how they believe that …show more content…

I believe that I did a good job of separating my main points as demonstrated by discussing the history of the deforestation before moving into the effects that it has on the animals of the region, and then finally touching on the effects that it has on animals and humans around the world. I thought that my transitions between the points were well done by saying things like “But this doesn’t only affect the animals and the humans of the region, it also affects humans and animals globally” before moving from my second point to my third. I also thought that I did a good job of moving from my body to my conclusion and review by saying, “So let’s review what we have learned today”. The supporting material did a good job of doing just as the name suggests and supporting my main points. This could be seen when I talked about The Guardian’s article and how it estimated the future effects that the deforestation will have on the plants and animals of the region by
