Catton wrote this essay in a manner that is an exemplar student comparison and contrast essay. He used both methods of subject-by-subject and point-by-point to show the comparison and contrast. At first, he contrasted between the two generals and used the subject-by-subject method. Paragraphs four through six were all about Lee and there was no contrast yet since Catton had only introduced Lee at that time in his essay. Then, in paragraphs seven through nine he talked about Grant and contrasted the two generals using point-by-point since he had now introduced both generals in his essay.

The more people she killed, the less it meant to her. The town started to realize the horror taking place--even some of the girls. But Abigail no longer had any consideration for her sins and continued to persecute more and more innocent people. Abigail Williams proved to be the most heinous character throughout the entirety of the play. Her actions were not justifiable in any way.

Would you stand against an inhuman act? In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, cruel lies led to the deaths of many. In 1692, townspeople of Salem, Massachusetts were falsely accused of witchcraft by a group of young girls. Those accusations ended their lives in a biased trial. Also, in Good Night, and Good Luck, directed by George Clooney, a feud between Edward R. Murrow and Senator Joseph McCarthy starts when Murrow reports McCarthy’s tactics in his communist “witch hunt.”
One time is when Mary Warren is getting questioned about pretending and she then accuses John Proctor. She did this because she was scared for her life. The trait that really stood out when going over Abigail Williams was how selfish she was, she would do any to stay out of trouble. Antigone's character displays the trait of being honorable through her quest to give her brother Polyneices a proper burial. She would rather "die an honorable death" instead of one with worst consequences (Sophocles). Antigone sees that there is no better way to die that a death with honor and faithfulness to her kin. Knowing the consequence of breaking Creon's law was death, she knew that if she were ever caught, she would "nobly die" (Mckay, line 5). Oedipus's stubborn daughter is not afraid to die, for she knows her death will not be for nothing.

In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee many characters are victims of the harsh conditions of Maycomb County. Often those who are seen to be metaphorical mockingbirds are punished the most. A mockingbird is one who only wants and attempts to do good. Characters such as Boo Radley, Jem Finch and Tom Robinson are exemplars of mockingbirds in Maycomb. In the novel it is explained by Atticus that killing a mockingbird is a sin because they do not do anything to harm to us like nesting in corncribs, or eating up the gardens, they only sing for us.
Peeta is an example of someone who made a sacrifice for Katniss. Peeta saw that Katniss was hungry so he purposefully burned his bread so that he could feed Katniss. Peeta and Katniss are not related but only friends that bareilly know each other. Rue is another example of someone who made a sacrifice for Katniss. When Katniss saw Rue hiding behind a tree because she was scared that she was going to get killed in the arena, Katniss tried to make her not scared.
For example, Hector shows honor in the Iliad Book 22 when he states, “I will never mutilate you—merciless as you are/ I will give your body back to your loyal comrades. Swear you’ll do the same.” After that, Achilles tells Hector that he would not give his body back to the Trojans because there was “no love” between them. Even though Hector was fighting against the odd during his fight with Achilles, he still showed honor. This makes Hector seem more heroic than Achilles, even though Hector was beaten in combat by him.
