The most effective part of the novel is the end of Chapter 22 to Chapter 26 , where the judge has decided that Officer Cruise isn’t guilty for shooting Khalil.This makes the people who are protesting for a guilty verdict really upset to the point where they had been breaking and setting fire to stores who are owned by white people.Towards the end of the novel, Starr is realizing that it isn’t about her, Khalil, and the night where he got shot. That it is about all the people that are starting to speak up against this injustice..Starr had also made a promise to Khalil that she’ll never give up and that she will speak out.
