Throughout high school I’ve learned various things, some that will stick in the future and some that go in through one ear and out through the other. If it's one thing that I must say was worth knowing, it would be realizing that keeping a positive mindset and having faith in yourself can help you achieve even the impossible, along with hard work. Never would I have guessed that a project assigned to me would make the change that was overdue. A civil rights project that I thought so minimal on helped me become a better person, but it also brought peace of mind to families who beared sleepless nights in fear of them being deported. Cardenas to sort of fill him in on what we are campaigning. A meeting with him was set up so that we could personally hand the letters to him and speak upon the subject a bit. During the meeting we had emphasized how important it was to our group and our community that he try to get this act passed, and how it will bring many economic, social, and political benefits which he should have already known. Wrapping up the meeting was a nail bitter because he hadn't promised anything yet but we ended it on a good note because the green light was ours, he had agreed to doing whatever he could in his power. We may not have changed the law just yet nut taking this action really helped my group and I realize that as long as you put your mind and grind on it you can do it no matter what. Our group came together and helped spark the possible change we were in need of, as of now only time can tell if the law will go through the house. Through the project I learned that taking action is an essential step to becoming a global citizen. In the beginning of the project I was not much involved in the community and was really just a bystander to every event held in school, local business, and every other event imaginable.
