'Inspiration In William Henley's Invictus'

One needs inspiration to get through a mentally or physically challenging time. To be mentally stimulated to do or feel something is inspiration. When one receives inspiration, one may also get the motivation to do the unthinkable, and possibly coming out of their comfort zone. One could receive the inspiration from a book, t.v. show, poems, or even an athlete. In 1888, William Ernest Henley published his poem titled Invictus. When Henley was 12, he was diagnosed with tuberculous in his bones. Doctors told Henley that both of his legs would have to be amputated; He did not let that happen. The doctors amputated one leg and he continued with a successful life as a poet. The world invictus is latin for unconquerable. In this tough situation,
