In the excerpt from the novel Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena Maria Viramontes the protagonist Estrella goes through various changes as an outcome from prior experiences. To convey those changes Viramontes uses some literature elements such as tone and paradox. Things starts when Estrella comes upon Perfecto’s red tool chest. When she opened the box she was disoriented because she did not understand what were the functions of the the tools.
Motivation can come in unusual ways. Motivation can come from within, but words and actions can also motivate others. Indirect motivation can be extremely effective as well. An indirect example is sharing a personal story that can be uplifting and motivates others. There is also such a thing as bad motivation where people can lose morale and get flustered.
Sometimes people get motivated in different ways, but some people have similar motivations. The motivation can be a quote, a goal, or something else. Hannah Herbst wanted to help people. She was motivated by the fact that she could help other people and do it with something she likes, specifically science. Alexander Hamilton wanted to help his country and the people in it.
People are always trying to motivate themselves, whether they are trying to better themselves or trying to better others around them. Motivation is one of the keys for people succeeding because it is a crucial element of attaining goals and also makes people desire to accomplish or do something. There are many reasons why people gain motivation, everything from someone having a lifelong goal that they desire to accomplish, to other people making someone want to accomplish or do something. One example might be a baseball player; this baseball player has dreams of becoming a professional, so these dreams are his motivation to practice so that he can become a professional player. In the book Never Fall Down by Patricia McCormick, Arn, even though
Freedom of poverty and individual rights ultimately what Mexican-American cultures strive to obtain in earlier times, according to Viramontes. Although this contains accuracy to an extent, today’s Hispanic American culture fight against stereotypes and hidden oppression of full individual rights. Remedification of potential and hard work is dismissed in this novel, due to Mexican-American’s job status and minimal education. This oppression often leaves Mexican-Americans to keep living in this lifestyle, obvlious to keep working and hopefully achieve grounds to move out of poverty. In the novel, Under the Feet of Jesus, Helena Maria Viramontes emphasizes the physical labor Estrella and her family go through, and how this work reshapes their
The Power Of Motivation We do things for many reasons but the most common reason is motivation. Motivation is what prompts a person to act in a certain way, or at least develop an inclination for specific behavior. Motivation is not the part that is important it’s what the motivation is, such as love or fear.
Motivation, whether external or internal, drives people to keep going even when they may be experiencing obstacles. Claudette Colvin from Freedom Walkers, as found in StudySync, was the original Rosa Parks; she refused to give up her seat in the black section of a bus to a white person as it was her constitutional right. Grover is a satyr in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief; he helps Percy throughout his quest, but Grover has one goal in mind: to become a searcher and find his long-lost god, Pan. People are motivated to conquer feelings of uncertainty because they know internally that the end result is worth it. No matter how young or old a person is, if they have internal motivation, they have the key to success.
My motivation in life thrives when I face challenges. My biggest challenge was moving away from my family and developing my network on my own. Growing up as a member of a Korean family, our greatest values are gathering and having quality time. Thus, it was hard to accept that I am no longer involved in family times due to the long distance. However, as I had more time for myself, I could look back at myself and explore my interest.
It is because of them that I aspire to be a college graduate, ready to head out into the world and help others while making my parents
“Virgins”, by Danielle Evans, is a tragic story narrated by a young girl who places what she views as “inevitability” into her own terms. The protagonist of the story is Erica, a young, physically well-developed girl who has her own view on men and what exactly they want from her. Throughout the story, a constant battling environment surrounds her, and one side of her keeps pushing her to the verge of giving up everything - even her virginity. Evans uses the title of the story to question the importance of finite as virginity in relation to the value of a woman’s body. Through the use of character development, plot, themes, language and style, setting and figurative language, she is able to come up with a true proposal of the both self-value,
The Baroque period covers one hundred and fifty years from 1600 to 1750. Its characteristics tend to include, lavish, over the top, expensive and much more then necessary. The period is painted literally with architecture, paintings, clothing, food and much more that continuously begs people of today to ask ‘why?’. The use of frill and extravagance in art in this period has become less of a question of ‘why’ and more of a question ‘where is the extra?’, because this part in history is centered around adding extra ornamentation to everything. With such an over the top part in history, it would seem impossible to pick one piece that could embody every aspect of the Baroque Era but it is to be proven that one piece has such potential.
As I grew older I knew the actions I had to take to accomplish my goals. Since I started college I have faced many obstacles but that was more of a reason to continue pushing myself and not give up. Many people in my life that I look up to are the reason why am here today accomplishing my career. What led me to college was high school, my mother and my family members; they had amazing advice to share with me.
We all need to belong somewhere. Everyone needs people to be there for them. We need to adore our lives with others, rather it is our family, friends, coworkers, or just society alone. There are a lot of traits that makes everyone unique in their own way with some of these traits people can make you seem like you’re an outsider but it’s false.
