This lesson plan reaches students in a variety of ways since it employs movement, music, and visual aids. The First Thanksgiving – Group Playwriting or Song Composing lesson plan includes appropriate content, a variety of techniques and strategies for instruction, the expectations for students’ final work product, and a specific rubric that will be used as a summative assessment to check for students’ understanding of the content using their final production of their play or song. This artifact shows that I understand the necessary components for effective planning of instruction and that I have a clear understanding of how the use of multiple strategies will result in the most success of students in the classroom setting. By providing students with a variety of learning strategies to reach the high expectations set forth by the teacher, students work hard to reach their learning goals and be successful,
Drama Assessment Task S1 Task 2 Non Realist Devised Group Performance Isolation is being separated from other people or environments. In my group’s performance, Hazy Memories, we used several theories and techniques of the two dramatic forms studied to communicate the theme of isolation. Through different Epic Theatre and Absurdist techniques we communicated the theme of isolation, by the use of a circular plot line, an episodic structure, music, gestures, and characters all in black. We used the technique of a circular plot line and placards to show the isolation of a man who develops dementia over time.
The most known play written by William Shakespeare is called Romeo and Juliet. This play demonstrates how love and hate can cloud your judgement when making decisions. For various of people around the world, they believe that the tragic and heartbreaking romance shouldn’t be taught in school. Despite the negative and crucial result coming out of it, there is an important lesson to be taught in high school. I believe that it should be taught throughout freshman year and be reevaluated throughout high school.
We’ll do just fine even though we got a B minus on that chem test, and no, I won’t join the debate team for you because I want to take theatre” (Cabot). Cabot’s video provides the perspective of a Palo Alto high school student to anyone who has access to YouTube, and she cites enormous pressure from students and parents as implicit causes for
When it comes to sports my family has many ties to Middletown High School South. In the Going as far back as the 1980’s when my Dad attended the same high school. He was a standout wrestler for the team and was given multiple scholarships to wrestle in college. My family name is everywhere within the trophy rooms and walls of Middletown South. I am the youngest of three children with two older sisters coming through high school before me.
A class novel should include real world situations to open students' eyes to social issues around them and help them better understand what is going on. Also stated in the article “The Importance of Diversity in Books”, reading about important issues “...creates empathy, and helps students to become more conscious of the world around them…” (Prescott 1). As students, we are still children growing up and trying to figure out our way around the world. Being introduced to real world problems at a young age makes us develop into more aware adults.
Where does the dramatic conflict in A&P become apparent? Why does Sammy quit his job? What do you understand from the conclusion of the story? ( use examples from the text) The dramatic conflict in A&P is not apparent until the last part of the story.
1.) Creating dialogue that will help introduce a conflict for why the character Lauren is maybe missing was a suggestion I found intriguing and would allow me to create a little more background information. Simple dialogue such as, “Please don’t hurt my parents!” and a description of her being taken away will start the story. Want readers to quickly learn someone is being taken against their own, also keeping the abductees incognito.
Dear Dr. Kim, I am a sixth-grade student who attends Herbert Hoover Middle School. I like to consider having the text, "All Summer in a Day" taught next year to rising 6th graders. " All Summer in a Day" is about a young girl who is bullied by her classmates. This problem can lead to students coming home physically or emotionally hurt, and I would like to raise awareness of bullying in my school. The first and most important reason why "All Summer in a Day" should be taught next year is that people at Hoover Middle School get bullied physically or emotionally.
These are so significant to understanding the work, that a reader of this script can recognize them, even if he or she has never seen a production of A Doll’s House. This story could not be conveyed properly without including the significant examples of spectacle in a production. According to Aristotle, there are six elements of drama. In simplest terms, they are referred to as plot, character, diction, music, thought, and spectacle.
Often times, there are debates as to whether William Shakespeare should be required in high school’s curriculums. In my opinion, Shakespeare's works are curated in a great, timeless sense that appeals to all audiences due to its broad, diverse spectrum of themes and comedy. Shakespeare would appeal to the educated class with his complex comedy. However, he would then go to appealing to a less intellectual class via the raunchier side of his comedy. For example, just before Tybalt came to confront Romeo, Mercutio and the other men were going back and forth about each other’s virility.
“The behavior of difficult-to-manage students can be improved through providing interesting lessons on topics of personal relevance that permit active involvement and lead to competencies students consider important” (Charles & Senter, 2005, p. 131). This statement summarizes perfectly the idea that when students are engaged and learning about topics that are meaningful to them, their world opens up and they begin to see a purpose in what they are doing. According to Trevor Muir, a teacher and author of The Epic Classroom, conflict can motivate students and develop a sense of curiosity (T. Muir, personal communication, February 20, 2018). When students are presented with a real world conflict, they become motivated to find a solution. Project-based
The play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare has been taught in school for many years now. Some say that we should continue to allow our teens to read this tragic love story, while many argue that this play should no longer be allowed in schools. The issues concerning this tragic love story are the inappropriate jokes, the unrealistic view of love, and the promotion of suicide. These issues will indeed prove why Romeo and Juliet is ill suited to be taught to freshmen. Ninth graders should no longer read Romeo and Juliet because it is has very inappropriate jokes that should not be associated with school.
Meta – Response Effect on Art In “The Pleasures of Tragedy,” the author Susan Feagin discuses with her audience the impact of direct responses and meta responses and explains how it relates to the tragic world of theatre. How the author defines direct responses is, “Only in the sense that it is a response to the qualities and content of the work of art.” (97) and that a meta response is known as “It is how one feels about and what one thinks about one 's responding (directly) in the way one does to the qualities and content of the work.” (97) but to be more direct in the tragedy scene a direct response can be seen as non-pleasing experiences and/or unhappy endings in which it brings the audience together when showing conflict that impacts everyone to come together and vice versa with meta response where we see something emotionally tragic such as a character’s death and we all come together and analyze what happen in the tragedy and connect it within own lives.
