“Where are you from?” is a common question people ask if you look ethnically mysterious. Being a different race with unique facial features shows you are, not what they call in the United States “American”. Evelyn Alsultany was born and raised in New York City. Her ethnicity is Arab from her father's side and Cuban from her mother's side. She describes the social issue, she confronts the way people approach her creating assumptions, consequently making her feel excluded from her cultural background.
In the article “Artificially Yours” by James Vlahos, Mattel has a new Barbie in the market. Hello Barbie is a doll in which has been inserted artificial intelligence (A.I). With the help of ToyTalk, a company based in San Francisco, Mattel was able to come up with a Barbie that would be able to talk to millions of little girls. Hello Barbie has gone through a lot of modifications since her first appearance to the public. Modifications done to Mattel’s new Barbie was that her thighs were slightly thickened to fit a rechargeable battery and a mini USB charging port was installed in her back.
As I read the syllabus these quotes really struck me. While reading Audre Lorde’s quote the first thought that came to mind was that my wellbeing is dependent on the wellbeing of those around me. As I reflect a little longer, I think that this quote is saying we are all connected in some form or fashion. What happens to you affects me and what happens to me affects you, whether we are aware of it happening or not. As women we feel deeply and we are all part of a bigger plan to give life to mankind; therefore it is reasonable to assume that we are all interlocked with each other.
Marjorie’s reaction shows that she wants Bernice to be independent and not have to rely on a man, even for a simple task as
The advancement of technology that our society has been privileged with, is starting to take over human’s emotions and replace them with those of a robot. When it comes to the discussion of technology, I have mixed feelings because, in my opinion, we do have a great tool in the palm of our hands. However, I also think human emotions and actions are starting to become robot-like. We need to be able to process emotions so that we can better our understanding of not only each other but also ourselves. I strongly think society needs to evict the virtual world and come back to the real world although it is safe to say I personally have a love-hate relationship with technology.
Throughout humanity, humans have always been a rather social species, often enjoying the interaction with others. It is human nature to for one to seek and reap human interactions, this, however, may create a society in which depends too much on others. Though some may argue that one may work better when together as it encourages cooperation and productivity, it does eventually create too many emotional attachments and a dependence on one another resulting in inefficiency. In the case of "Zero Day" by Jan Gangsei, the protagonist Addie Webster was involved in one of the most notorious kidnappings, she was kidnapped to train to become a cyber hacker. Her sole purpose to return back to society after being gone for so long is to retrieve a computer
This quote connects to how certain anxieties can ignite, for instance, since she has murdered people and will never be able to make love anymore,
The family unit is typically seen as a group of people who are strong, and who stick by one another; however, when horrendous things happen to people inside of the family, what impact can that have on them? The well-known horror author, Stephen King, answers this question in many of his books. King is known for having the ability to inflict fear on his readers; making them afraid of things which lurk in the dark or under the bed. However, in his books Pet Sematary and IT, he doesn’t just attempt to scare his readers with a menacing ghost, but rather he hits closer to home by attack the beloved family unit by showing his readers the things that happen when a family is presented with unimaginable horrors. King tears the family to pieces when they cannot bear to deal with their problems, and forces either the adults or the children to deal with the supernatural beings that are the cause of the horror with the hopes of bringing the family back together.
However, if one is highly emotive, they may not be able to separate the emotion from the data they perceive,
Another very important thing that each human has and feels are emotions. Emotions are your feelings towards
The cognitive level of analysis aims to study how the inner processes of the mind processes information gained, and how they are interpreted and applied into the real world. Within this level of analysis, it was found that the cognitive and biological factors of our mind influence how we feel, or in other words, our emotions. Emotion can be defined as the body’s response to any specific situation. As all human beings can express how they feel through facial expressions, this suggests that emotions are biological rather than cognitive. However, emotions can be dependent on both the cognitive and biological factors of our body.
As human beings we learn that in this life, we have to start from somewhere. Our emotions helps us to work things up, just imagine being someone with no emotions whatsoever, how would that even feel? It would be pretty boring. We need to express ourselves, and to make our own opinion. Even if those opinions are wrong.
This being said, it illustrates that life without emotion would not exist if you are a living human
Having Agents that can express emotion makes agents more flexible,
I do not believe the field has been developed to its potential in any regard, and feel that considerable progress can be made to improve the interactive experience that users have with an artificial intelligence application. This genuine intrigue combined with my curiosity for the subject matter and the limitless potential of the field are the reason why I wish to pursue a greater depth of knowledge in artificial
