The use of deadly force is not intended so that people can get away with murder. Many courts have put a label on a case by case basis where they say that a reasonable person can perceive that their life is in danger they can use deadly force. If my life was in danger and I was backed into a corner, I would say yes, the use of deadly force is warranted.
