In the world, there have been many scandals that have not yet been forgotten. In the history of the United states, there have occurred numerous incidents that relate the president on creating secret treaties or have lied to their people to protect the country. For instance, some of the most known scandals are the Watergate scandal and the Iran-Contra scandal, which have created a major impact on society and are always going to be remembered. As of today, nothing has changed and there are still scandals about the president and its administration. Some examples of recent scandals are the Trump-Russia Collusion Scandal and the GPS Fusion-FISA Court Scandal. In the Watergate scandal, which happened under the presidency of Richard Nixon, five men working for the Committee to re elect the president broke into the democratic headquarters in the Watergate and were caught going through files and trying to install listening devices. Days after that happened the president was asked for his response and he denied having any acknowledge of the incident. This is one of the scandals that really impacted people in the way that the president knew he was guilty and desired to resign the presidency before congress could impeach him. This was the first time in history were a president had resigned from the presidency. In the other hand in the Iran-Contra scandal the president did lie to the American people but in my opinion, it was for a good reason. The Iran Contra affair was about the government secretly selling arms to Iran, so they could release three American hostages. Instead of the government getting the money from the arm sales for unbeneficial things thy decided to fund the Contras in Nicaragua. The contra rebels were reveling against communism and therefore the U.S. government was trying to help them. The thing that both of these scandals had in common was that the presidents lied to the people. Nixon lied for self-convenience and Reagan lied to save the hostages and to help combat communism in other countries.
