Why is America Exceptional?

In 2001, my mother was able to acquire a visa to live in the United States of America, my mother wanted to chase her American dream. She knew that where she used to live, the opportunities were not there for her. My mother saw the greatness in the US that most of us see. The US is arguably the best country in the world, and most people who live here would agree. Many different aspects of America are exceptional, especially when compared to other countries. America allows its people to strive for their own happiness. The fact that we can say what we want, choose to follow whatever religion, and report anything to the public is an incredible right given to us. Some countries think of freedom of speech and the press as a privilege, and that can lead to terrible living conditions. Take North Korea as an example, (1) North Korea almost completely denies the freedom to report, or speak on anything without passing the government’s censors. This censorship has led to North Korean citizens who are left to believe only what they are told by their government. The government forces lies into the people of North Korea’s heads, things against other countries, beliefs, and what’s actually going on in their country. Freedom of religion is just as important, in places where Religion is forced onto the people, it leads to genocide, discrimination and inequality. (2) ISIS for example, only wants those around them to follow Islam. ISIS’ beliefs on freedom of Religion have led to the genocide of the Yazidi people, leaving Yazidis to live in fear. If not for our Freedom of Religion, we in the US would not be protected from religious
