Is Archaeology worth it?
Did you know that archaeology is the only field of study that covers all times periods and all geographic regions inhabited by humans, meaning that without archaeology we wouldn't know a single thing about any of those things. Archaeology is the study human history and remains through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts. They work long hard hours in order for us to understand ourselves and our history better. Due to archaeology we know many different things such as how humans evolved, who are our ancestors, and how we used to live before. Although there are such limitations as we can’t be 100% sure of the past, you also might say “Oh what a waste of money, What a waste of people and time”. While archaeology …show more content…

One example we learned from our mistakes could be our outfits. Before, humans didn’t really know what materials to use for different weathers, we also didn’t really know how to make clothes properly. We used to use things such as animal leather or skin as clothes but now we have more advanced materials such as polyester, cotton, wool, and even more. Another example is tools and objects. Before we used to use things such as animal bone or simple materials such as copper or rock to make objects and tools, but right now we use even more advanced materials such as aluminium or titanium, glass, and hundreds more materials. Archaeology helped us find things such as materials before like wood utensils, or pots made of clay to eat, but now we use materials such as glass plastic, or aluminium since we knew what we used before and what went wrong so we found materials that are better. According to an article talking about evolution on keys, “images show that keys in the past were made of more fragile material such as wood or stone, and compared to the materials now we use such as aluminium or stainless steel we can clearly see that the tools have evolved and we have found better materials to use.” The Evolution of Everyday Objects: Series Landing Page. (2012, May 15). The reason we know about the tools in the past and how they evolved is also partly because of archaeology since the archaeologists are the ones who dug up the tools in order to research them and give us information. One more thing that could show change are houses. In the past humans used material such as straw or wood to make houses. These were basic materials for building a house at that time, but as time past we started realizing that there were more sturdy materials such as concrete or bricks
