Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last twenty years, you probably own (or have at least seen or heard something about) some of the latest devices that all sorts of companies are releasing. There are so many different iPhones, gaming systems, Smart TVs; companies like HP, Intel, Apple, and so many more. There are God knows how many devices that people use in their daily lives. But one question nags at some people: is all this stuff useful, or is it just for profit?

But the article doesn’t give us a direct answer to his question. He seems to pull information from colleges and online interviews and other sources, but doesn’t seem to give us a direct answer. He even admits that himself, saying that we should be skeptic of his skepticism (327).
Honestly, I am skeptical of his skepticism. I don’t see how the Internet is shortening our attention span, or making us impatient. True, it might make us a little lazy with research that, without the Internet, would take hours or days, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. She explains that she used to not really care about getting the most recent devices until she saw her coworker use her phone to get on the Internet. She says that she, basically, lost her mind in amazement. Apparently, her coworkers and employer had pitched in to get her an iPhone 2 soon after this experience.
Calvert tells us that she became “an iPhone addict,” and is on her phone constantly, every day. She explains this all by telling us what different things she used her phone for on a recent Saturday. Checking the weather, her email, texting her daughter (whom was sitting downstairs), and looking up recipes are just a few things that she refers to in this article. Even though Calvert never minded keeping up with getting the latest technology offered, it now seems she can’t get over how amazing her new iPhone is.
But, see, that’s the beauty of what we can do, nowadays. We can use our phones for almost anything from calling family, friends, or coworker, to downloading the latest albums on Spotify. Our phones keep us entertained all day, and we can use them for so many useful things. Even if it might all seem small, it does make a big impact. That’s what’s so incredible about all of
