Is Killing Ever Justified Would you kill your best friend. Of course not it’s the person in your life that makes you happy. What if your best friend caused you trouble and lost you every job that you ever had. That might change your mind a little bit. In John Steinbeck’s novella Of Mice and Men the two main characters Lennie and George face this challenge. In the story George Milton had to kill his best friend Lennie Smalls because Lennie was hurting others and killing other people on accident because he didn’t know his own strength. George had to kill Lennie if someone is killing others you have to stop them. You are not going to sit somewhere and watch someone kill people and then not do anything about it. In a story killing in self-defense, it explains how Ziad Tayea was going out one night to get some food and he ended up getting into trouble and it ended in him fighting for his life with three other people. He had pulled out a knife in this dispute and then another man had pulled one on him and put it to Tayea’s throat then out of being frightened Tayea swung his arms knife still in hand and struck the other man by the name of Tyrone Noel Gibbons. The results were similar to a study done the previous year by Gary Kleck, a criminologist at Florida State University, but only rarely does self-defense ever end in homicide. George had simply killed Lennie because he was using self-defense for other and himself because Lennie killed a puppy then Curleys wife which had made the guys feel in danger of Lennie. If Lennie had lived he would have been in more trouble and gotten hurt a lot more other than George just shooting him in the back of the head so he didn’t go through a lot worse pain or hurt anyone
