The American Dream, or being able to provide for your family, is not accessible anymore to all Americans due to the poor working conditions of workers and the lack of “supplies” needed for the American Dream due to the number of people that actually wish for the American Dream.

There are so many people wanting the dream, but the country cannot sustain everyone’s dream, so not everyone cannot achieve the dream, even if they have all the right characteristics. There are a few that stress due to financial problems, and looking at them, they seem to be alright. This shows the reader how difficult finance is to some, and not all can save. Most people cannot just buy whatever they want, and this shows, little vague, yet it still shows the message. This is opposite of what people wish to live as. They would like to live knowing they can buy whatever they want, not live paycheck to paycheck. Now, there are a lot of reasons why people live paycheck to paycheck, sometimes the job is not good paying, or they might not have the capabilities to save. It could just happen too, and not a lot of people really like that. In another point of the article “Is the American Dream Still Possible?”, Wallechinsky reports that, “Self-reliance and Sacrifice. Most of those interviewed display qualities common to American success stories…” (56). The poor conditions given could refrain from others from achieving the dream since there is a lack of support or even supplies in general that workers need to succeed. Studs Terkel goes to write in his oral history Roberto Acuna Talks About Farm Workers how pesticides harm the people and the workers. He explains how there was a little girl that died from the pesticide, and how it can make a worker sick. The fumes could cause respiratory problems, making the worker unable to work (75). When the worker cannot work, he cannot achieve any goals. They have to stop working due to their health, ending all chances of achieving their dream. This was all due to having poor working conditions and not having any precaution for the safety of workers. The conditions stopped all processes the person had on achieving the American Dream, and now no one is getting the
