EPT #2 What Parents Forget to Teach Their Children In Mari Pearlman’s LA Time article,“Cheating in School Reflects Basic Confusion in Society”, gives off the impression of parents not doing their parent when it comes to children being honest in the academic system. The way parents act will reflect the way their children are seem as through school. If the parents cheat or even have bad behavior to other people, children will note it their brain as “it’s okay to do it because mom does it”. Cheating is a growing plague and will keep going if parents don’t start to focus their actions on better quality behavior because their children are watching them too. In my family, I see the way my sister acts and I look at her daughter and realize that they act the complete same. If her daughter is falling a class and can not make up the work that she did not do, my sister will say it was the teachers fault and not the daughter. Even if they are both wrong they will never take the fault for it, and in my opinion i see it as weak for not saying you we’re wrong and apolozige. Even in the 1990’s, teachers were noticing that cheating was a huge problem and parents were not trying to save the academic system but push their kids in to beating it. Again with my sister, she did not care how her daughter was passing her classes she just wanted to graduate. More parents are worried on their children to pass the class and not actually learn the materials that are taught in it. Some parents will cheat or even steal their way to the top and the children will view it as being okay. However, not all parents are uncaring or even doing illegal activities, they might have no idea where their children got the idea of cheating in the first
