It was a sweltering Friday at the Lake Titicaca Fire Station when fire inspector, Isaiah Koala, was scheduled to give his first speech for a middle-school field trip. Isaiah was under a lot of pressure because he has never really been very good around kids, but he couldn’t figure out a way to tell his boss. He has never even met his own child yet because he ran out on his ex-wife when he was younger; there was too much pressure. He was definitely not up to confronting a whole class of children. “Isaiah!” shouted fire chief, Red Saxon, a hard man who was known to have zero tolerance for slackers. “You’d better get your deadbeat behind down to the garage for the speech!” Isaiah just rolled his eyes and made his way towards the exit leading to the garage. The first thing he noticed when he entered the garage was that all of the children were circled around one of the fire trucks, probably admiring the new paint job that he’d done on it just a week ago. He clapped his hands to get their attention. Once all eyes were on him he cleared his parched throat, “Hello class, um, today I’m going to be teaching you how to best prevent a house fire and what to do if you are in one. This is very important so I would really appreciate your full and undivided attention.” He paused to gather his thoughts when his phone went off.
