Al (2003), researchers studied the Holocene Barrier island and inner continental shelf located in west-central Florida. Hanley makes a very compelling argument with the use of statistics, crediting backgrounds to each person used in the article, and invoking feelings of pity and anger to sway the reader’s view.
In theory, raising the minimum wage would lessen America’s dependence on such benefits. If workers are making more money, Hanauer says that workers are spending more, and increasing the demand for more workers as opposed to cutting jobs. Hanauer closes his essay by telling the reader to see the economy as Henry Ford did; an effective economy is one that works for all not just part of the country. ANALYSIS: After reading Nicolas Hanauer’s essay on raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, I take an affirmative stance on this issue. The main reason for siding with Hanauer is that he is thinking about how many people can get an upper hand with a wage increase.
The federal minimum wage has been increased twenty-two times since President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed the bill into law in 1938. President Roosevelt was an avid supporter of a federal minimum wage as he says that “no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.” Raising the federal minimum wage has many pros and cons, but is a necessity to thrive in society. People have argued that raising the minimum wage will cause inflation, but it will create various economical benefits, income benefits, production benefits, and improve racial justice.

When you raise minimum wage you raise the price in everything else for instance if minimum wage was raised ten percent that also raises restaurant prices 0.7 cents that may not sound like a lot but it starts adding up sooner or later and who knows then it could raises prices a whole dollar. Some people think that because the cities they live in are so expensive that minimum wage should be raised but if you live in an expensive city and are also living off minimum wage and can not afford it then you should not be living there. Also women think that they can not have a good lifestyle for their children with what minimum wage is paying. If you are living off minimum wage and trying to raise children then maybe you should find a different job where you can afford a life for your kids. Minimum wage should be raised because the economy is at a point where if minimum wage is raised there would not be a drastic change.
Some think that we should raise the minimum wage, but others think that we should keep it just how it is. If I had to choose one side I would choose the side that says we should keep it as it is. I would keep the minimum wage just how it is because it would make it harder for people to create businesses if we raise it. Also, for job seekers it would be difficult to find a job that is available. Also because the economy is slacking businesses can’t raise prices for items they sell.
There are just few things that both people and companies want and that is to make money. Companies want to make a profit to survive and become stronger and grow. Then you have people or employees they just want to make money to provide for their families. The nations minimum wage right now is low and many people struggle to provide for their families, and then the companies they work for are getting richer and so are their leadership, but the employees are still low or at a minimum pay rate. Which side will win, many states and politicians want the higher minimum wage.
A minimum wage was created so employees would receive a fair pay for the job that is being done. But, there is a limit to how high the minimum wage should reach. Raising the minimum wage can cause a great deal of issues in America and put a gross amount of people at a disadvantage. Many citizens in America believe the minimum wage should be higher, but the solution is not to have a higher minimum wage.

There is absolutely no reason that any American citizen should want to pile upon the problem. Yet, some believe that it could be done by raising the federal minimum wage to fifteen dollars an hour. There should not be an increase in minimum wage because it is unhealthy to the economy in the long run and it will be the major cause of job loss, increase in inflation, competition, and the price level of goods and services.
