As Mother Teresa once said “Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty” the feeling of loneliness can be terrible for everyone making them feel like they have lost everything they had. People can start feeling the sensation of loneliness because of their own families or the surrounding around them. Family can play the most important role to feeling alone and feeling unwanted by them causing you to make decisions that do not have a back button on them. Everyone is different and they all face loneliness in their own way. In Brando Skyhorse Novel, The Madonnas of Echo Park, Beatriz is the mother of Felicia and the grandmother of Aurora.
Loneliness, a powerful emotion. Not only experienced by us, humans, but by animals. Even mythical creatures, such as unicorns. The story follows the woman in her journey to rekindle her happiness in life.
Gilb shapes Jake as the stereotypical lonely male, but we can also observe the fact that everyone is looking for love. This need for affection and human interaction is evident in Jake and is also displayed in Mariana. A young, beautiful woman like her would never fall for a crook like Jake. She is definitely not interested in going along with Jake's inquiries, however, Mariana must be flattered and feel a little lonely because she smiles at his compliments and even makes small talk with him. Even though she refuses him many times, Jake continues by asking her "out to breakfast somewhere and talk it over" (407).
This confinement damages the characters' ability to make connections, and as a result, they are unable to reconnect with loved ones. Consequently, this leads to a detachment between the characters and their families. A character that demonstrates this disconnection is Maisie. She feels as though she is a stranger looking in from the outside: "I lasted a month. No matter how hard I tried, this place, their house, was no longer home, and these people, though kind and loving, were like strangers pretending to be family" (Good 59).

Elisa wants to go watch the fights and she wants to do other things than just play in her garden. Elisa is struggling to find what she really wants to because she is so scared to break the chains of society and do what she wants.
It is known that loneliness sometimes makes us senseless. In Susan Glaspell’s “A Jury of her Peers” loneliness made Minnie Foster irrational. Mrs. Hale assumes that Mrs. Wright is guilty of killing her husband because of her nonchalant answers she gives when being interrogated about her husband’s location. During the story the reader will learn more about Mrs. Wright, or Minnie Foster, and how her personality changed drastically through her twenty years of marriage with John while Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters are covering up the tracks that they presume led to murder. They conclude that loneliness made her lose herself which is evident throughout the short story.
Have you ever felt Isolated while being surrounded by a bunch of people? Many people have experienced being isolated in just such a situation. In the novella, Of Mice and Men, many of the characters are lonely and express their feelings of loneliness. Lennie was a lonely individual because he had nobody to talk to about his problems. Loneliness can take place in any environment, it can happen to anyone, and it always has a real, severe reason behind it. During the process of reading the book “Of MIce And Men” we met different characters, with different personalities, lived very different lives, and each one of them had a backstory or an experience that led to their feeling of loneliness. For example, with ‘Crooks’, his loneliness came from an experience of racism, because he was “black”, he didn’t have a place in between the other men, and he was even assigned a bunk alone because of that reason. With Lennie, his feeling of loneliness came from the lack of love, and attention his whole life, from his childhood up until he was a grown man. With Curley’s wife, she had no
First, loneliness is the sadness caused by having no friends or company, and friendship is a state of mutual trust and support between people, they are polar opposites, yet a person may acclaim to have both. This is shown in Of Mice and Men periodically throughout the novel, knowing this the reader is challenged with such themes, the enticing beauty of friendship between George and Lennie, and the gloomy dreaded idea of loneliness shown by Curley’s wife, Candy, Crooks, and again Lennie. Among these characters the reader may also feel a connection between themselves and the characters, even though the world now and during the publication of Of Mice and Men has changed a lot. The world has reformed, and developed exponentially so, however friendship and loneliness is still a facet of everyday

The setting shapes the mood and tone of a story and has a great affect on what happens in a story. The setting influences the events that take place, how the characters interact and even how they behave. Settings show where and how the character lives, what they do, and what they value. Characters have a relationship with the setting just as much as they do with other characters in the story. This is seen in the effects the setting has on the development of the Character Elisa in the story “The Chrysanthemums.”
Another way that loneliness shows in a character is through Candy. His dog was his best friend and after he died he could only cope with the loneliness by following Lennie and George 's dream. Another way it is shown in the book is through Curley 's wife. She tried to deal with it by flirting with other workers on the ranch because her husband does not give her attention.
