Many people believe that Isolation only affects people who are single and don’t get the love and comfort they need;however, new information shows that people who are in a relationship are also affected as well. This can be seen in the short story the Yellow Wallpaper jane is married, but still faces Isolation due to the fact that her husband leaves her alone all day in her room with no attention nor ability to leave the room or the house. While he is away at work it makes jane isolated from the real world just outside her room. Jane faces isolation differently from others because most of the time, people only think isolation occurs when people are single and alone. When jane was clearly feeling alone and not wanting to go through with this supposedly healing process, her husband still walked over her and let his authority reign over her. He only wanted to be seen as a superior to her and so instead of loving her and controlling her in a gentle way he took harsh and inconsiderate measures that literally put jane at her wits end. …show more content…

A danish health survey states that “accounted for variables like cohabitation, chronic physical and mental disorders, depressive symptoms, and emotional- social support.” This explains that some relationships are so stressful that they cause people to become mentally harmed. This can be seen in The Yellow Wallpaper and through the effects of jane’s relationship with her
