In Jacob Kushner’s article, he addresses the fact that optimistic volunteers are not prepared to solve the world’s problems in one round trip. Issues like Haiti’s are complex. They are economic, social, environmental, and have history that still affects them today. Kushner explains that it is great to want to help but good intentions are only the beginning for people to make real and long-lasting improvements to developing nations like Haiti. For the most part I agree with the author however I would question if he is addressing the teens as he refers to the article. I do not think it is up to these inexperienced teen volunteers to confront the issue head on. If they are spending the entire summer away from hopes spending thousands of dollars
