Evan Ilynch lived a pleasant life with the aim of enjoying himself. He married his wife not because of love but as a matter of convenience. He seeks only what is pleasant and avoids unpleasant things. He does not have intimate relationship with his family. Ivan Ilych’s life changes drastically when he slips and falls while adjusting curtains in his new house (Great Authors). A symbol of proper life he and his life wish to portray. His physical life went downhill from the fall which eventually led to his death. His last days of painful existence are plagued by his fear of death and failure to understand why he should die.
