A man once said “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” This quote came from Jackie Robinson the first colored man to ever play pro baseball. Jackie was a man who grew up with a single mother working to support her kids the best she could, but even though Jackie had a rough childhood, he grew up to be one of the most impactful men in sports history. Jackie Robinson is an important person in our countries history based on how his life started, what he accomplished throughout it, and the legacy he left behind.

First, Jackie inspired many kids by being the first colored man in the MLB. Dusty Baker in the article “MLB’s integration struggle started with Jackie Robinson. It didn’t end there” said, “All the time I was growing up as a kid, my dad would always remind me when I would get in a scrap or scuffle or something, especially like a racial scuffle, my dad would also tell me to think about what Jackie would do” (Frommer 1). Jackie had an impact on many kids with what he accomplished and he still does. Next, Jackie wasn’t always playing baseball he would also be out and helping others. In Howie Evans article he says, Jackie also strongly believed in education, people say that after he retired he could mostly be found at colleges and schools talking to the students (1). Even when Jackie stopped playing baseball he could still be found helping and inspiring others to do what they want. Finally, Jackie left an impact on baseball as a whole. In the article “Jackie Robinson” it says that “just as Jackie placed his stamp on baseball, his historic role in baseball had stamped him” and that he had a big impact on the struggle for colored people playing sports (1). This shows that Jackie had an overall effect on baseball and people in the twentieth sentry and it has left an impact on it now too. All of this evidence shows that Jackie had a major impact on baseball but he also had a big impact on human history
