The Community College Completion Corps event was particularly important to me because I was always told that I would end up married and without a degree. Serving as an officer in Phi Theta Kappa Beta Delta Omicron chapter has also helped me demonstrate my leadership ability.
As an athlete myself the athletics are a major part of why I would like to go to Archbishop Mitty High School. The wide range of sports means that if I grow tired of one sport I can move to another. With a lot of sports that do not need much experience since they are non-cut, I feel that I have many opportunities to shine in sports that I would otherwise never have attempted. Knowing that Archbishop Mitty High School has won so many awards in the athletic department, tells me that they are doing something right. At the open house, I had the chance to speck with athletes and coaches and that gave me a feeling that the athletics are another part of Mitty 's wonderful community.
1. My significant contribution that I have made to Mount St. Ursula cannot be seen or touched, but, felt in the hearts of my wonderful teachers and classmates. My strong positivity has filled the environment of my school. I’ve often been told that I make optimistic impacts on many people’s lives. My amazing personality makes me a unique individual in my school amongst the cluster of young ladies.
It is important to be focused and successful academically, but it is also important to be involved on your college campus. Involvement is key, and it can lead to many life-long friends, opportunities, and experiences. Since involvement is so important, it would be great to be involved in a program that caters to your own college experience directly. Most programs I work for have no relation to my major or my business school experience. I thought by being involved with ambassador program will aid in furthering my knowledge of what Culverhouse has to offer and more about my own major.
encountered so many other black people from the Islands, from other parts of Africa, from the United Kingdom, and much more. By meeting these individuals, I have learned and experienced many other parts black culture that I had not previously known. Also, with such a large number of different cultures, we can establish extracurricular clubs and activities that can make us more aware of the cultural diversity within the black community. In addition, I am filled with joy seeing all the amazing things that my African American peers accomplish at HBCUs. There was once a time that we would have been beaten or killed by simply trying to become educated so to see so many black students on the campuses of HBCUs who are accomplishing so much it makes me extremely proud.
Growing up, children have nicknames, mine was "lemonade" because when life gave me lemons I made lemonade out of any situation. When I was given this nickname I was unaware of the trials I would later face in life, but as always I made lemonade out of the situations. One of my favorite things to do has always been to challenge myself and push my own limits, physically and academically. When I was 7 years old I asked for a unicycle for Christmas and taught myself to ride it. I've always had a motivation that can be matched by few, and a drive to be unique.
My first out of class assignment was when I work the concession stand at Miami vs. Ohio game during Homecoming Weekend. My Fraternity usually like to give back to school in many ways and one of those ways are by doing concession stand during school games. This was my first time doing something like this because I’d just joined greek life, but my experience of doing it was actually fun and very good bonding experience with my Pledge Brothers. My assignment that day was to work the popcorn stand.t was a little stressful at first because I had just stayed up for 30 hours for “Keggs n’ Eggs”. Plus two hours before the game I was a fill-in at a Homecoming Parade for some of my pledge bro’s who couldn’t fulfill their duty to it.
Tell us about your sorority experience. I have had a fantastic sorority experience. I went through recruitment and joined a sorority with a completely open mind because I am the first in my family to participate in greek life, so I really didn’t know what all to expect. I am confident when I saw say, joining a sorority was the best decision of my life. I have had the opportunity to make amazing friends in and out of my sorority, meet impressive alumni at our international conference, and learn about and actively advocate for our wonderful philanthropy.
My FFA membership has taught me more than I ever thought it would. When I first came back to YPS I was in eighth grade. This meant I was a Greenhand. Although Greenhands are supposed to be Freshmen, they were seventh and eighth graders here. I didn’t know what to expect.
Within the club I worked hard to solve problems faced by LGBTQ youth in my community. I helped form the school's first pride event, organized a fundraiser for LGBTQ youth homelessness, taught my peers about LGBTQ identities and orientations, and proposed and helped lead a campaign to get gender neutral bathrooms on my school’s current and future campuses. While not a end all solution, this work
Throughout this past week, thanks to Alabama Action, I have discovered the true meaning of a “servant’s heart” and discovered that when like-minded people get together, we can make a huge impact on the community. Servitude is something that is incredibly close to my heart and this week was the perfect introduction to all that the UA Honors College has to offer to help find ways to leave my mark. Coming into this week, we were just a large group of kids from every corner of the country – joined only by our desire to serve and our love for the University of Alabama. But, in just a few short days, we became a community of thinkers, leaders, and dreamers who formed bonds that will last throughout these next few years and beyond.
I am competitive; I look for the chance to run the extra mile. My competitive nature has aided in everything I commit myself to. Regardless if I am participating in a sporting event, competing for a solo in a musical production, or preparing for a final, I will indubitably devote my time and efforts to perform as well as possible. I take every opportunity that is presented to me and attempted to better not only myself but my community as well. I am confident that the Honors College at the College of Charleston will enable me to devote my attention to my studies, become actively involved within campus activities and academic assemblies, and offer my time and abilities to charitable events and organizations.
As I have continued to carry on my passions in the school community and through extracurricular activities I believe I will be able to do the same at Saint Francis. One of the many things I am passionate about is soccer, and other sports. I enjoy being a part of a smaller community with the same interest, and passions. I am also interested in being a part of the other clubs at Saint Francis such as photography, baking club, and being a shadow host. One of my favorite activities is to play soccer, I have been playing soccer since a very young age.
Ever since i was able to talk and walk I have been a die hard IU fan and now that I am a senior i am one step away from possibly attending my dream school. As an undergraduate i plan on pursuing a business career that would allow myself to reach and receive a Bachelors degree with a major in Business Operations while obtaining a Marketing Minor which will authorize me to move on and reach my goal of owning my own business in more specific terms owning a Chick-Fil-A. Ive been working at Chick Fil A since I was fifteen and have recently been promoted to the management team which I am very humbled by since I am only sixteen. I am very blessed to be a part of this corporation which has taken me on trips to leadership summits and have shown me better ways to lead my team and communicate.
I don’t remember the first day of practice with the Mercy Healthplex Sea Wolves, mainly because I was only six years old at the time. I do remember feeling scared because I was in the big kid pool and I hadn’t made any friends yet. I used that first season to adjust to the multiple practices a week, and the new techniques I was learning for my strokes. The second season is where I began to find my place, and started to feel more at home. That second season with the Sea Wolves became one of the most important in my life.
