Many people think of Prince and Michael Jackson as two of the world’s greatest music entertainers. They were both African American singers, songwriters and philanthropists. Everyone considered them musical icons. They have entertained music fans all around the world. Their musical styles has influenced other famous entertainers and artist such as Beyoncé, Usher, Chris Brown and others.

His music made a connection for the ears of during the time when racism was at an all time high. Duke Ellington was a jazz author, conductor, and entertainer amid the Harlem Renaissance. During the developmental Cotton Club years, he explored different avenues regarding and built up the style that would rapidly bring him overall achievement. Ellington would be among the first to concentrate on melodic shape and sythesis in jazz. Ellington composed more than 2000 pieces in his lifetime. The Duke Ellington Orchestra was the "house" symphony for various years at the Cotton Club.

Brown was also credited with providing a new direction for R & B that would later evolve into soul in the 1960s (Soul: a Historical Reconstruction of Continuity and Change in Black Popular Music, 33). The style applied vocal and instrumental elements.
Although Michael Jackson was a controversial figure; he will ultimately be remembered for his fantastic singing ability and incredible dancing style. Michael Jackson was an incredible singer and a generous volunteer. Not only did he change the music world he also had an effect on society. He captivated the world with his dancing and fashion. He inspired many people in the singing industry right now.
Jazz as an art form has a rich history as one of the first indigenous American musical styles. Born in the south, Jazz was a way for African American’s to express themselves musically in a time of suppression, and its differences from the music at the time would change music culture forever. Jazz would often discuss the plight and struggles of African American’s lives through slavery and oppression. Over the years, it has adopted many different forms and styles through creative genius of such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Louis Armstrong amongst other legends. Their influence and character that they introduce into jazz has transformed and modernized it over the many decades that followed.

First of all, in the 1950’s Elvis Presley and his music started the era of the generation gap between teenagers and their parents, an era which is still going on today. With Elvis being very young, attractive and his new type of music and dancing, teenage girls fell head over heels for the young star. Most parents though, did not feel the same way about Presley. He was often described a vulgar and many accused him of corrupting the youth.
