Japanese Lore Research Paper Legends are based on history, embellished, and are told and retold. Myths are based on religion, supernatural beings, gods and demigods, and explains natural phenomenons. Japanese folklore are influenced by the two religions of Japan, Shinto and Buddhism. Some stories of ancient India were influential in shaping Japanese stories, Indian themes were changed to appeal to the feelings of the Japanese people. Oral tradition, or oral lore, is a form of human communication where in knowledge, art, ideas and cultural material is received, preserved and transmitted orally from one generation to another. Family timeline. It talked about a person who may or may not have existed a long time ago. The Japanese creation legend the story of how the world was created. The Japanese creation legend is based on the kajiki which is supposedly the first book written in japan. It explained how they thought the world began and gave them something to worship. Once upon a time a man named Fujiwara no Hidesato crossed a bridge with a big serpent on it and stepped over it, after which the serpent disappeared in the water and returned as a woman and she said that she has never seen a man brave enough in two thousand years, because of this she asked him to defeat her enemy, a large venomous centipede named mukade who killed the woman´s sons and grandsons. He promised to do it and equipped himself with bow and arrows and killed the centipede after which the woman rewarded him with many treasures including a bag of rice that never ran out. It tells people of this culture to be brave and stay curious. The prize for being brave. A fearsome serpent would scare most people,
