In his enthralling and cogent speech given to the graduating class of 2018 at Lesley University, Jason Reynolds captured his audience by speaking about morality and how every choice you make has a significant impact on society as well as a person’s everyday life. Reynolds gains credibility by repeating the same letter sound, using words, and or images to represent occurrences throughout one's life, as well as concentrating on one point of resemblance. Reynolds uses those techniques to communicate with his audience on a deep, personal level. Jason Reynolds portrays himself as a strong speaker and gains credibility through recurring sounds. Reynolds states, “It flips, flops, and flaps. Reynolds uses the same letter “f” to catch the reader's attention and make them think about this situation more closely. He then states, something similar “flipping, flapping, inflating, deflating, and dying.” This quote leaves the audience understanding the overall tone and lesson within his speech.
