Carnegie ran his company without any concerns pertaining to his workers. They worked long hours with very low wages and high risk of injury. Their work days were often 12 to 14 hours, for which they earned about ten dollars a week.
The Growth of America America’s industrialization did not just happen on its own. Many workers and business people contributed to the growth of America ,but three men made significant impacts. These three men were Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie. Vanderbilt led to the expansion of the railroad industry. Rockefeller led the advancement of oil refining and Carnegie progressed the way steel was manufactured.

Car Symbolism The Great Gatsby is the story of wealthy Jay Gatsby pursuing his fantasized love, Daisy Buchanan. Cars are seen multiple times throughout the novel and play an important role. In Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, cars represent the careless wealthy people.
John D. Rockefeller and George Eastman were captains of industry because they were philanthropists and innovators. Rockefeller founded oil and produced many companies and opportunities to strike it rich. Rockefeller would end up hitting it rich from the oil and go onto being one of the wealthiest men in the world. The oil would be exported to be sold for gas, and that would boost the steel industry. The oil from John D. Rockefeller would be sold to Andrew Carnegie, the owner of the steel industry.
Although seemingly love stories, the calamitous tales Ethan Frome and The Great Gatsby depict two characters, who in their struggle to find “true love”, end up lost in a tragedy. The Great Gatsby sets the reader head-on into the roaring 20s amidst the unspoken conflict between “old money” and “new money”. Ethan Frome takes place in the fictitious town of Starkfield, Massachusets and its story is stitched together by the unidentified narrator. The lavish mansions and depiction of city life in The Great Gatsby drastically contrast the small farms, deep in the woods in Ethan Frome. Nevertheless, Gatsby and Ethan share many characteristics as tragic heroes.
