In the past years, women are often suffering from the inequality between them and men. Dehumanization, objectification and violence are different words that are closely related. Most of the the time, women are the victims of these words. That is caused by specific advertisements that reinforce these actions. In the documentary Killing Us Softly, Jean Kilbourne talks about how women are victims of inequality. She blames most of this inequality on advertisements that are giving men more power than women. Dehumanization, objectification and violence are examples of this inequality.

First of all, how can we define dehumanization, objectification and violence?
Dehumanization describes the denial of humanness to other people. In other words, it’s when someone is deprived of human qualities. It would even be easier to define a human then we decide what no human is. A good example of dehumanization is the way women are objectified as robots, beers and much more in advertisements.
Objectification is the act of treating a person as an object or thing as though they were a possession of another. It’s when someone considers another person as an object. For example, women are presented in advertisements as objects. Often, women are presented as dolls to attract men.

Dehumanization leads to objectification. Dehumanizing a person would make that person objectified. Kilbourne explains how women are objectified and that is caused by advertisements. Women are presented as objects for men’s pleasure. In most ads, women are seen in positions that take away their dignity and self worth. Men who are seeing those bodies will be able to consider them as objects for self pleasure. For example, a sexy body of a woman that is transformed into a beer will lead men to think that this body can be bought and own for their pleasure and
