Sometimes you can idolize someone so bad that you become obsessed with them. This obsession can grow on you and make you to hate the person you idolize. You see what their hidden faults are because you study them so closely. This is what happens to Jesse in Wonderland. He does this twice once with Dr. Perrault and the other time with Dr. Pederson. To start off Jesse idolize Dr. Perrault like a father. Jesse thought Perrault work was amazing and Jesse wanted nothing more than to replicate it as his own. That makes Jesse to try to get Perrault’s blessing by doing a lot of the things that Perrault passed on to him. Jesse thinks that if he studies Perrault, and watches what he does he can learn everything that Perrault has to offer, and that he can become just like Perrault. Jesse would what nothing more to live his Perrault’s life. So he was obsessive with how Perrault was living his life. This isn’t the first time in Jesse’s life that he wanted to copy someone else’s life. Jesse did something very similar with Dr. Pederson. Jesse looked up to Pederson because at the time Pederson was Jesse’s father. Jesse planned on continuing what Pederson had started in his life, and continuing his father’s legacy. Jesse, in the process of learning everything that Perrault had to offer realized something. Jesse figured out that Perrault was a cold-hearted monster that didn’t really care if someone lived or died. Jesse really saw this when he went to Perrault’s house for dinner. The way that Perrault talked about personality of a human being was appalling to Jesse he could believe what he was saying. This made Jesse start to hate Perrault and not want to be around him anymore. This is exactly what happened with Dr. Pederson. Jesse starts to see all the bad things about him as well. This eventually leads to Jesse leaving Pederson and his family because Jesse can’t stand the monster that Pederson
