In Night ,written by Elie Wiesel. Ellie's reveals his deep humanity though many events that occurred while in Concentration Camps. One event that demonstrates Ellie's humanity the most is when the Rabbi is looking for his son, Zalman. In chapter six the inmates are evacuated and made to run. If they stop or fall they were immediately shot dead by the SS soldiers.
"The Monsters are Due on Maple Street," by Rod Serling can be viewed in several different formats. We chose to view the teleplay and the short TV episode. In the teleplay and TV episode of this story, there are many similarities and differences including the character appearances, tone, and the theme. To start, the character appearances in both the teleplay and episode are different. In the teleplay, Tommy, a 14 year old boy is seen with glasses and is seen as an immature and innocent kid.
Night by Elie Wiesel is the first book that would be saved because it tells about the Holocaust, has great examples of emotional appeal, and is one of the best, if not the best, example of a historical tragedy. Telling about the Holocaust is the most important aspect of this book, as the Holocaust continues to be one of the worst historic tragedies in the world. The easiest way to prevent a similar occurrence from happening is by never letting it be forgotten in the first place. This book would be memorized to make sure that it would not be forgotten and hopefully prevent it from happening again. Reading this book makes the reader realize just how fortunate he is/was to not live during that time period, and also helps one understand just how
My thesis would be about Trying different roles and gender role-playing while the experimenting with one’s sexuality. “Exchanging Hats” by Elizabeth Bishop is a whimsical poem about experimenting with pushing gender dress to the limits of acceptability. Hats are customarily used to define a person’s role in society or profession. This poem uses that mantra to depict the different roles that people play, and the different hats they wear to emphasize those roles.
The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, one of the most ‘savage’ film that has ever been made by director Fred Schepisi and also it is the first Australian feature films with a budget over a million dollars. Ever since its theatrical release it remains a notorious work and has made legendary by portrayals of terrible racially-propelled violations. Schepisi's The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith is an Australian film based around a half-aborigine who experience the ill effects of racial discrimination goes on a savage homicide spree against whites. Adapted from Thomas Keneally’s Booker Prize-nominated novel, The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith blew apart politically correct discussions of racial relations in Australia and provoked gatherings of people to mull over tough questions.
John Updike begins “Perfection Wasted” with the line, “And another regrettable thing about death is the ceasing of your own brand of magic, which took a whole life to develop and market” (Updike, line 1-3), he says that one of the downsides to dying is losing everything you’ve worked your whole life to get. We work hard most of our lives to become something other than ordinary and when we’re finally extraordinary we start to wither away and die. He goes on to say that the phrases we’ve been known to say, our sarcastic statements, and our bias towards certain people all die with us. When we die we take all the delight and sorrow we’ve caused from the world. No one can make someone feel the way we have.
Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game was published in 1985 and brought about many opinions and views. One such opinion turned into an essay by a person named John Kessel, who published Creating the Innocent Killer in Foundation, The International Review of Science Fiction in 2004. John Kessel detailed how Card created Ender for the purpose of garnering the audience’s sympathy to distract them from Ender’s bad deeds. But Kessel’s argument provides many facts and statistics from different qualified people, so whether people agree with him or not, he makes several true points and arguments that nobody can disagree with.
Julia de Burgos’ poem, Ay, Ay, Ay of the Kinky- Haired Negress frames her poem by adopting an individual persona “I” which allows her to speak with legitimacy on the self. However, some might argue that she also universalized the poem to include the black exploited slaves to create identity for everyone. The poem not only redefines the role of a black woman but it also redefines the foreign and obscure issues in identity. Ay, ay, ay, that am kinky-haired and pure black kinks in my hair, Kafir in my lips; and my flat nose Mozambiques.
“To die and part is a less evil; but to part and live, there, there is the torment.” -George Lansdowne In Night, by Elie Wiesel, many prisoners were afflicted with both bodily and mental sufferings.

In life we can all relate to the feeling of longing for something. In All Summer in a Day, Ray Bradbury’s characters’ lives are clouded with rain and the only see the sun once every seven years. Bradbury uses metaphors, emotions, and repetition to express the sun’s meaning of hope to the main character, Margot, and the children of rocket men and women on Venus. Metaphors and emotions are used to help the reader relate to the connection with the sun. He describes the sun and the rain using metaphors, and uses the children’s emotions to help further the idea.
“What’s your favorite time of year?” “Summer!” This is a common question asked by an adult, and a typical reply from a child. Of course summer is their favorite time of the year because they have summer break! 10-12 weekes full of sun and fun!
Additionally, Gladwell describes problems in society in the early 1890s that outliers discover solutions toward. The author uses Louis and Regina Borgenicht as an example, demonstrating that when they relocated to New York from Poland, Louis had to find a job that would have favorable pay(,) to raise children (Gladwell 139-140).. Mr. Borgenicht, one day while walking the streets, had found a dispute that the people of New York were having. He observed that clothing was an issue for middle class families, and was determined to resolve this predicament . Louis and Regina sewed all night long making clothes, that Louis would then go to the streets and sell before noon.
I already can’t wait for summer to start again. Thanks for everyone who made my summer one to
In the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the creature that Victor Frankenstein creates is not born evil. One cannot be born evil because we are shaped by our environment and the people we are exposed to therefore it is impossible for one to be born evil. Some may become evil by committing vile and destructive actions in which they are taught or were brought up to be. When ‘the monster’ had been created he had no idea what to think or say.
