Jim Crow Laws
Jim Crow laws made people suffer because of skin tone. These laws separated people because of their skin, which affected the education and rights of black people. They made schooling difficult for black children, and while a group opposed these rules, Jim Crow laws posed a threat to blacks’ lives.
Jim Crow laws were unfair to blacks (Encyclopedia Britannica). Regrettably, Jim Crow laws segregated blacks from whites while enforcing rules on blacks (Encyclopedia Britannica). Jim Crow laws caused many black communities to be poor (Tennessee State Museum). Why were these laws created? Allowing blacks and whites to be equal was "bad” so the government put laws in place to stop it (Encyclopedia Britannica). …show more content…

Since many black communities were poor, there was little money to go to school (Tennessee State Museum). Because of this, schools for white people were nice buildings with multiple classrooms, water, and electricity (National Museum of American History). Meanwhile, schools for black kids were buildings with one-to-two classrooms and no water or electricity (National Museum of American History). Those laws made it so that black people got less education than was needed (National Museum of American History).
Some kids who challenged Jim Crow laws are known as the Clinton 12 (Tennessee State Museum). Because of a lawsuit, Clinton High had to integrate kids. (Tennessee State Museum). Even though black kids were allowed to go to Clinton High, only twelve kids went (Tennessee State Museum). Sadly, those kids got bullied and even hurt because of their skin color (Tennessee State Museum). Finally, the school had to close because the KKK protested the school for letting black kids attend a white school (Tennessee State Museum).
