The Doors were booked to to play a gig on the Ed Sullivan show on september 17th 1967. There No. 1 hit “light my fire” got them the show. Even tho the doors were a different band compared to other bands that played on the show. Fifteen minutes to air time and the show had one thing to say to the band. In the song “light my fire” there are lyrics “girl, we couldn't get much higher” but they wanted them to change them to “girl, we couldn't get much better” the doors agreed to the change and went to play the show. When it came for them to play that song jim decided not to listen to the show directors and said the original lyrics. They were banned from playing the Ed Sullivan show ever again.
