Mary Queen of Scots was born into the throne and pronounced queen of Scotland at six days old when her father died. In her lifetime, she was the queen of two countries: Scotland and France. Mary spent most of her adult life imprisoned in Lochleven Castle and later escaped and fled to England to seek help from her cousin Elizabeth. When Mary went to receive help from her cousin it did not work in her favor. She had several husbands and secret lovers that caused problems with her ruling.
Joan of Arc had an important role in the Hundred Years’ War for a French peasant girl who basically led France to its victory, and was able to save the monarchy. During her teenage years, Joan started to hear voices, which she claimed to be the voices of Saint Michael, Saint Catherine, and Saint Margaret. Later on, those voices spoke to her telling her that the dauphin had to be crowned and that the English had to be expelled from France. She had many obstacles in the way but in the end they were convinced. The French believed her, because the court believed that only a miracle could save the country.

English forces had been attempting to seize, or trying to take over towns, in the north eastern part of France, and England had begun to lay siege on Orleans . Looking back, the superheroes you admired gave you a sense of justice that involved a punishment of incarceration or even death. However, this does not bring back the lives of the dead or fix the issues of the inflicted. As you get older, you may come in contact with a few stories that challenge that very notion of justice, such as “Hamlet”, by Shakespeare and “Killings”, by Andre Dubus. These stories share a similarity in that both characters, Hamlet and Matt respectively, seek retribution in their journey for justice as nearly all justice stems from that, the desire for retribution.
