"Male Gaze" In "Ways of Seeing" Berger suggest that the representations of men and women in visual culture propose different "gazes", different setting in which they are looked upon, having men with the capability of examining women, as well as having women examine women. The video "10 Hours of Walking in NYC as a Woman". Rob Bliss the creator of the video presents how he believe women have the right to dress the way they want and that men play a major role, where they should not make disgusting comments and gestures, but instead lower their gaze. These two works both highlight the "male gaze", the way visual arts relate the world and women from a masculine point of view and in terms of men 's attitude. I first started off with the left side covered with different women and the right side with different men, to show the sense of equality. Although both these works presents how men have the power and ability to do as they please, I selected an image of an upper first and above it says "it’s time", time for women to take initiative upon the idea of "men act and women appear. Men look at women. Women watch themselves being looked at." The surveying woman is a man, the surveyed woman is a woman, and by this the woman objectifies herself as a topic of a gaze. In both works of Berger 's and Bliss 's the have men survey women before they relate to them and the results of this determine their relation to the women. As a result Berger mentions: " a woman 's actions and appearance indicates how they would like to be treated and observed, opposed to a man 's actions which are just actions", where as in the video there 's that contrast with the woman wearing clothes that are not revealing, but receives disgusting remarks and comments.
