A great man once said: "Don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great." One should find this quote to be very moving and interesting. This great man happens to be Mr. John D. Rockefeller, a man who I would want to meet, as he has served as an inspiration to me. I want to meet Mr. Rockefeller because he is a man who developed a sense of hard work at a young age, made oil available and accessible to everyone and a global pioneer.

Some may ask, who is John D. Rockefeller? He was a normal man just like every one of us, whose ideas sparked innovation in the world today. Growing up, Mr. Rockefeller came from humble beginnings. He worked by starting and taking over different small businesses as a young teenager. John D. Rockefeller established a commission business dealing in hay, grain, meats, as well as some other goods together with a friend. He would tend to be very careful and tedious with his ventures. This could be seen when he monitored and followed the oil business.

Mr. Rockefeller was the founder of the famous Standard Oil company. He was a smart and daring individual. He eliminated competitors and merged with other firms in order to control 90-95% of the oil in the United States. John D. Rockefeller was America's richest man and one of its first tycoons, but he is more than just a successful man. He used his fortune to fund ongoing philanthropies. I believe that this shows how much of a globally-innovative pioneer he was during his time. It was said that he gave away more than $530 million to these causes.
