In the 1960s the Americans were looking for a President who could fix the issues that Eisenhower had caused. The people of the United States wanted a President that would bring the country together and unite them through an active but productive leadership position. The Democrats introduced a candidate to the United States that they hoped would bring the country the united nation that they had been longing for. John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s campaign promised the American people the “New Frontier.” Kennedy was able to get approval for tariff reductions and wanted to cut taxes so within time he could create prosperity through economic growth.
The first article is inaugural address, January 20, 1961, by John F. Kennedy. The second is an article “Inside Kennedy’s Inauguration, 50 Years On,” writer Eleanor Clift. The last document is a photograph of the swearing-in ceremony “ inauguration of John F. Kennedy by the United States army signal corps. These three documents have a lot of in comment but different story. The first document is about John F. Kennedy making a speech about the humanity and the American people to be strong and while they support each other.
The election of Kennedy as president of the United States was the sign of the country's willingness to confront the new phase of Soviet competition with new ideas and young energies. In the early 1960s, the atmosphere of heated debate and criticism of society was compounded by widespread malaise toward Eisenhower's politics. After eight years of Republican rule and despite the new electoral formulas and promises, the methods formulated after World War II proved insufficient. The society demanded new stimuli to face the Soviet challenge with imagination. From this national demand was the Democratic candidate John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

Through his short, yet significant reign, he had managed to make numerous changes to the country and impacted the lives of American and people from around the world . In this paper, I will be writing about his personal life, how he grew up, and greatest accomplishments, and what made him one of the greatest leaders we’ve ever known. Kennedy was the son of Joseph Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald.
Throughout Ronald Reagan’s JFK speech, Reagan celebrates the life of Kennedy by honoring his successes as former president and highlighting his attributes that led to his great impact on the world. His claim that “As a leader, as a president, he seemed to have a good, hard, unillusioned understanding of man and his political choices” contributes towards portraying Kennedy’s inspiring persona. We chose to incorporate this statement halfway through the speech as it addresses Kennedy on a more personal level following the general introduction of his leadership and patriotism. Not only does the claim assist the appreciation of Kennedy’s ambitious character, but it helps emphasize future claims about his lasting influence across the globe, even
By the end of 1961, Kennedy led America into what was to be the beginning of the Vietnam War, a long conflict that would cost many American lives. Due to his assassination in 1963, his didn’t live to see it through. In his speech, Kennedy encouraged Americans to be proud that they were of the few generations, “granted the role of defending freedom,” but by 1965, many were disillusioned with what they saw as a costly and pointless cause. Three years later in 1968, nearly all Americans abhorred the war efforts. President Kennedy had much to do, and unfortunately not much time to do it.
John F. Kennedy started his presidency with astounding votes of seventy million people which allowed him to become the youngest president of the United states. The first thing he did was bring a sense of youth and glamour to the white house, and he began to work on the end of poverty as well as the battle to win against communism in the Cold War. During his presidency he created an organization called the Peace Corps which helped other nations with health care, construction, farming and education. The crisis of Cuba was an event involving both the United States and Cuba. Spy planes were flying over Cuba as they noticed that nuclear missiles were being there, they took pictures and sent it into the president Kennedy where he reached a conclusion that they were offensive and that meant an immediate threat to the United States.
John F Kennedy was a level headed, determined and well accomplished person. During his short-lived presidency, he had to take on challenges like no other and did it with sophistication and grace. From conflicts involving other countries, like Vietnam, to the Civil Rights Movement that directly affected our own country, Kennedy continued to take each problem day by day until there was an overall improvement or resolution. It would be safe to say that he is one of the more progressive presidents our country has ever seen. David Burner’s John F. Kennedy and a New Generation was written with the sole purpose of giving an insight into Kennedys upbringing and presidency in an entirely unbiased approach.
John F. Kennedy was seen as a force of change in the presidential election, and is considered one of the youngest presidents to ever be in office, and was a beacon of hope for many. He sounds a bit like King Arthur now, but as one looks even deeper, you can start to see the cracks in that comparison. According to
In 1968, the United States was an extremely divided nation. It was divided among many issues from the ongoing Vietnam War, continual inner city riots, and the assassination Martin Luther King Jr., which led to federal troops actively patrolling American cities; something that hadn’t occurred since the Civil War. An election year promised to be a great one, but none of the presidential candidates recognized the nature of these incidents as wounds much less sought to heal them, with the exception of one man – Senator Robert F. Kennedy. Robert F. Kennedy was many things to many people, but to the American public he represented something that had been lost and forgotten; he represented hope. Crowds responded to him not because he was a Kennedy or because he was John F. Kennedy’s brother, though they undoubtedly may have helped, but because he ignited a passion that a better country was possible.

Kennedy wisely sticks to using pathos throughout his entire speech, rather than relying on his then-minimal ethos or allowing his stirring speech to become bogged down by logos represented by the dull facts and figures of statistics. As a very young President just starting his first term, Kennedy lacks the reputation and reliability that an older, more experienced politician might have available. While it is true that most of the nation had seen him on television during the Nixon-Kennedy Presidential debates, those debates were the near-total of the people’s exposure to the dashing young President, and a pretty face does not a solid political reputation make! However, no matter how dashing and heroic he might have appeared to be in those
John F. Kennedy during his campaign for presidency appeared to have every type of distinction from past presidents, he was Catholic, had a lack of experience in foreign affairs, and was the young age of 43. Although the general public were resisting at first to Kennedy’s campaign his declaration that America would have the strength to resist the communism around the world convinced the uncertain and helped him win the Presidential Election of 1960. 60% of America voted for Kennedy while 40% voted for Nixon, the closest election in history. Kennedy changed multiple things within America such as the stereotype of what religion, age, and amount of experience presidents should have. Given are three texts the first is Kennedy’s Inaugural Address, the second is an article written by Eleanor Clift named “Inside Kennedy’s Inauguration, 50 years on” which has memories from Kennedy’s presidency being recalled from friends and family members, and the third one is a picture from Kennedy’s Inauguration
Kennedy is perceived as a guy who is good with words and is popular for his looks, dress-sense, and young dominant attitude. Reeves uncovered the presidency of Kennedy as well as I believe anyone could. He claims Kennedy was mostly worried about the re-election that was coming up in 1964 and winning that election for presidency instead of focusing on the point in time and the position that the country was in but at the same time not making it noticeable or frowned upon due to his popularity rate with the Americans of his era and time in office. Kennedy was smart at public gatherings dipping and ducking any questions about his religion as a roman catholic as well as lack of wisdom and knowledge about being in a national position let alone the act of president. I believe that his quotes and motivational speaking made most people look over these critical flaws president Kennedy carried with
