President John F. Kennedy was assassinated November 22, 1963 in Dallas Texas while riding in a Motorcade through Dealey Plaza. Even though there were people and groups who thought it was necessary to assassinate Kennedy, his assassination was unjustified because he strongly supported racial equality, women's rights, and brought the country back on its feet after the Great Depression. His plan for economic growth included tax cuts for businesses and for individuals and the plan had a positive effect on the economy. He worked for the good of our country and did not seem to make decisions or choices that would harm his country. In supporting racial equality, Kennedy made a civil rights address on live TV, and in that address he spoke about ending segregation and bringing equality to African Americans. JFK created the Presidential Commision on the Status of Women, which focused on examining employment policies in regards to women, the need to increase education and counseling for employed women and tax laws that affected the income of women. He also put in place legal representation for women in the workplace. With this commission, Kennedy planned to bring equal rights for women in jobs, child care, and many other areas. The Equal Pay Act was passed in 1963, which banned payment discrimination based on gender. Kennedy was very successful in bringing rights to women. At the beginning of his presidency, the country was in an economic downfall due to the Great Depression. To fix this, JFK created an Anti-Recessionary Restoration Program to speed up the rebuilding of the economy. In this program, Kennedy increased the minimum wage and social security payments, began redeveloping poor areas, lowered taxes, and more to help the economy grow.
