President John F. Kennedy delivers a speech where he uses multiple rhetorical devices to convince and inspire the Americans and the audience in his speech to vote for him and to trust in him. Starting with the first of many examples is when giving the speech Repetition can be heard because he says “America” a lot to let people know that they are American and the way he uses the word is to show people that they can be proud and happy that they are American. Following this the word “we”,” us”, and” our” is found many times in his speech showing the people that they and the president are not separated & different but united instead and that he sees them as not a voter but as his people to protect and serve. “Let both sides explore what problems …show more content…

And the glow from that fire can truly light the world” These sentences don’t mean that there is a fire that can glow so bright that it lights the entire world but what he list’s is that the energy and faith which is enough to make it seem like the hearts of all Americans glow with the words he says. loaded language:” For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life”. now he could have said something like:” we have the power to get rid of poverty and destroy people but he said this to prove a point. After all, he wants to have an impact on the person watching, reading, and hearing and wants to stand out because his competition is not doing a great job of standing out. now loaded language and pathos are the same in a way and Kennedy knows this. “To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends”.he could have said “to our old friends with deep connections we hope you still will help us during these dark times” but again he wanted a deeper impact with the audience and perhaps with the people he’s referring to and doing this helped him with the election because everyone knows what he’s talking …show more content…

he is appealing to the people and making them feel like they are in control of their country and decide the next big thing. now Kennedy was christen and used that in his speech use words such as:” the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God”. and “let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own.” I believe this is another use of pathos by appealing to christens by making them know that he is also a christen(also he is the first catholic president)and that they can also trust him. referring to hyperbole the sentences mentioning God have exaggeration in them “Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort?” this is another example of pathos by mentioning “enemies” and “fruitful life for all mankind” making people think about what would happen if they voted for someone else. Now they would probably vote for JFK because they want what's best for them and the country & how they can serve
