While researching my poet, I decided to compose my essay into four different sections. I began my research paper with a biography paragraph describing the life of John Greenleaf Whittier. Secondly, I wrote about the Romantic Period and how Whittier contributed to this era. Next, I took one of Whittier's poems and explicated it. Following the research paper I included the poem that I explicated as a reference. To finish up my essay, I developed a works cited pace in order to give credit to various authors.

The pioneers of Romanticism, called Romantics, wrote poems and works of literature that were based mainly on nature, the ruins and relics of the ancient past, rebellion, and much more(Shmoop Editorial Team 1). Romantics in the late 1700s’ admired nature’s beauty, and wrote many works of literature that was inspired by their emotions and feelings about nature(1). The writers would often share their passion of nature by writing about what they saw and felt from observing trees, flowers, mountains, and clouds(1). At the same time as the Romantic Period, the Industrial Revolution was beginning to take place, and more people were beginning to move further from nature into the cities in effort recieve jobs working at the factories(1). In effort to remind everyone of the importance of nature, Romantics wrote visual and descriptive poems describing the beauty of nature(1). “Romanticism was believed to be created from a reaction against Enlightenment values that praised reason and its limits(Jeffrey 681). Romantic poets were skeptical of the Enlightenment view that nature obeyed mechanical laws and could be mastered(681). In Romanticism, nature has a vital and active role that is illustrated throughout the writing.(681) John Greenleaf Whittier was a large contributor towards the Romantic Period because he wrote
