John Nolan - The Murder of Lucy Chen John Nolan met his victim Lucy Chen in May of 2021 when they both joined the police academy. This took place in Los Angeles, California; they immediately took a liking to each other because they were labeled the underdogs. Several weeks later, John had become jealous of Lucy because she had risen to the top of the class while he was in danger of being kicked out of the academy. As graduation neared, tension grew between the two. After graduation, Lucy was at the top of the class and John barely scraped by, and started devising a plan. John’s confession consisted of him saying he murdered Lucy because she was always oblivious to the pain she was causing him. She would celebrate her wins at the cost of his downfall, so he started to resent her. He finally had enough when she graduated top of the class and got into the station that he wanted to get into. He was planning on cutting her out of his life until she consistently tried to get him to hang out with her. He finally caved and went to hang out on the fourth. When she was talking about her new station and how amazing it was, he finally snapped and when she went to the bathroom she slipped something in her drink and accidentally got it on the rim of her glass, but she returned before he could clean it. Lucky for him, she didn’t notice until it was too late. He then bound her wrist and feet together with cords he found around her house, which was why she had abrasions on her wrist and feet. When she woke up she tried to wiggle out of them and scream for help, which is why he hit her multiple times, showing the abusive marks on her body. Finally, when he decided the time was right, he took one of the knives from her kitchen and murdered
