John Quincy Adams, statesman, politician, lawyer, and diplomat moved from his political upbringing as the son of the 2nd U.S. President to hold the office as 6th President of the United States. His fearless quest for adventure was perfected with countless experiences with his father. This ambitious desire followed him throughout his education and into his pre-presidency career and campaign. Throughout his campaign and the 1824 election, Adams, Jackson, Clay, and Crawford all fought a fierce, lengthy political battle for the seat as President of the United States. His presidency was immersed with accomplishments such as his dedication to fostering national unity, beginning a national university, prohibiting the removal of Native Americans, and much more. Adams was born into a family of political prominence with his father being former second president, John Adams and his mother being Abigail Adams. Perhaps more than any other president, John Quincy Adams’ dedication to his community and to the public far overshadowed his single term in office (Treese, 2015). Throughout his time in politics, Adams served many roles and positions including that of sixth President of the United States, Senator of Massachusetts, and being a dedicated member of the House of Representatives. However, he kept his values and morals at the forefront of all he did throughout his career in politics (Krehbiel, 1993). His story provides a backdrop rich in United States history. Both his deeds and character are worthy of research and discussion.
