Throughout his life, John Steinbeck produced many books and novels such as Of Mice And Men, East of Eden and many others. Steinbeck won a nobel prize in literature for his imaginative and realistic novels. He later went on to win the Pulitzer-Prize for his novel The Grapes Of Wrath which is considered to be an american masterpiece and part of the literary canon in America. The Grapes of Wrath was his most successful book and has sold over 14 million copies sinces its release around 80 years ago. He has written 16 novels, 6 non-fiction books and 2 collections on short stories.

This was his first real success as an american author and launched his writing career. This novel won the Commonwealth Club’s Gold medal. Tortilla Flat was about the adventures of a group of young homeless men right before the prohibition after World War I. It portrays these young men as the knights of the round table and helped win Steinbeck the Nobel prize for English Literature. During the Great Depression the United States said this book was a welcome antidote the helped to relieve the gloom and sadness during the depression. Steinbeck’s most well known novel was probably Of Mice and Men. This drama captures part of Steinbeck’s early life when he was trying to find a job to acquire a sustainable income. This novel is about the lives of 2 migrant workers working in agriculture in California. Many films very adapted for this novella and plays were performed many times. But all the time Of Mice and Men was performed, Steinbeck never went to see it. He says he would only be disappointed if he saw it performed because the perfect rendition of the drama was perfect in his mind and he didn’t was to ruin
