The non-Separatist Puritans secured a royal charter from King Charles I to form the Massachusetts Bay Company in 1629. The Massachusetts Bay Company was planned to be a business venture, but was also used as a refuge for Puritans. The Bay Colony quickly became the biggest and most influential of all of the New England colonies. For many years, the charter was used as a constitution for the Company. Governmental power rested with the General Court, who then elected the governor and his assistants.
Paul Revere was born on January 1, 1735, He was a silversmith along with his dad and a colonialist. He took part in the Boston Tea Party and was the principal rider for Boston 's Committee of Safety. He made a system of lanterns to help him warn the minutemen of a British invasion, setting up his famous ride on April 18, 1775. Edwards, though born in the new world, was well known for his fire and brimstone preaching. William Bradford vs. John Winthrop William Bradford came from a modest background in which he taught himself the arts of farming. As a teenager, despite his family’s opposition, he joined the Separatists and moved to the Netherlands. Shortly after, the group chartered land in the Americas and set sail. He was among the group of Separatists/Puritans that was aboard the Mayflower and received the opportunity to sign the Mayflower Compact. William Bradford was the governor of the Plymouth Colony settlement for many years.

The New Englanders took religion seriously, making unitary laws according to Puritan standards. John Winthrop, later chosen as the first Massachusetts Bay Colony governor, was seeking religious freedom. Wishing to inspire the colonists to dwell in brotherly unity, he summoned them together to remind them “that if we [colonists] shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause Him to withdraw His present help from us, we shall be made a story and a by-word through the world.” On the other hand, those in the Chesapeake region came for the wealth that America promised. They were there to become prosperous or die trying.
The way I interpret the Winthrop’s view on his document is that he acknowledges that there will be a difference in wealth, but you have to help your family then the people who are below you. It talks about how the lord will repay you and how you need to help the poor. So it seems to know that there will be a difference in wealth, but that you cannot just keep all the money for yourself and ignore the poor, you have to help your fellow man. It would be almost impossible to implement the things Winthrop talked about. We have seen how countries tried to implement communism and how countries have tried to implement theocracies.
When he was 14 he attended the City College of New York and started to sell children’s stories and humor pieces to magazines. He graduated in 1897 and enrolled at Columbia University and wrote novels to support his studies. He completed his schooling at the age of 20 and decided to become a serious novelist and a freelance journalist to support himself. In 1900 he marries Meta Fuller and had a son, David, in 1901. He wrote his first novel, Springtime and Harvest in 1901 but it was rejected.
