Jonah and the Whale is a story based around a prophet who was the son of Amittai and lived in Israel around the 8th century. One day the Lord came to him and said “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” However Nineveh at the time was a rival town to Israel and Jonah became angry at God for asking him to do so and he decided to go against Gods order. Jonah got on a boat and attempted to travel to Tarnish, once god saw that Jonah had disobeyed him he created a storm over the ocean that Jonah was on and once Jonah figured out that the storm was meant for him he told the crew to throw him over board while the crew swore vows to God. Once in the water God sent a Whale to swallow Jonah instead of drowning, he spent three days in the whales stomach praying to God and asking for forgiveness, he cried "Salvation comes from the Lord." God had sympathy on them and did not destroy them. This only aggravated Jonah more, questioning him once again, Jonah still hated Nineveh and wished for God to destroy Nineveh.
