Joseph Goebbels, born October 29th of 1897 in Rheydt, Germany to Fritz Goebbels and Katharina Odenhausen. Joseph Goebbels was a man of evil who had worked as minister of propaganda for the German Third Reich under Adolf Hitler himself. He had used this position to further spread the Nazi message. While the world was experiencing one of the most devastating wars in human history, Germany had produced a very formidable display of political propaganda such as campaigns that began in Germany but eventually made way to affect other countries that were involved in the war. Adolf Hitler made him the district leader of the party in Berlin two years later. At an annual Nazi Party Conference in February 1926, Gregor Strasser called for destruction of capitalism in any way possible. This included cooperation with the Bolsheviks in the Soviet Union. Goebbels first supported Strasser until he realized that the majority supported Hitler, so he changes sides and also supported Hitler. In 1927, Goebbels founded a weekly socialist newspaper known as Der Angriff, or “The Attack.” He had used this newspaper to promote the idea of German nationalism and then became one of the Nazi Party 's most important speakers. Goebbels spoke with a lot of sarcasm and insults towards the Berlin city government, Communists, and Jews at mass meetings and demonstrations. People believed he wanted to show himself publicly almost as equal as Hitler. Hitler admired Goebbels’ writing and speaking abilities; they shared quite an interest in propaganda and even planned how the Nazi Party would win the support of the German people. A year later, Hitler had appointed Goebbels to the post of national director of propaganda for the Nazi Party. Once Goebbels was initiated into this position, he began to create the Fuhrer myth around Hitler and emphasized it with large rallies that would gear German people toward Nazism. On July 20, 19444, Joseph had used his quick thinking and decisive action when he had isolated conspirators in the War Ministry. He was able to do this because he had the help of loyal troop detachments; those troops also helped to save the Nazi regime. Following his appointment as General Plenipotentiary for Total War, Goebbels had achieved his goal of becoming warlord on the domestic front. Joseph was given endless powers to move and direct the population and even to redistribute powers within the armed forces, so he imposed an austerity program and tried for even greater civilian sacrifice.
