The Life and Music of Joseph Haydn This essay will be on Joseph Haydn's life and music experiences. There will be a discussion on the life of Joseph Haydn as a composer and the music he shared with the world. Jones(2009) documented that Joseph Haydn was born on March 31, 1732 and life ended on May 31, 1809. Joseph was known to be a prominent Austrian composer during the Classical era. Joseph also into the development of chamber music; that is the piano trio(Smallman, 1992). Joseph contributed majority of his music career as a court musician for the wealthy. Hayden was a best friend of Mozart and he taught Beethoven. Although, Haydn was an outstanding composer, there were struggles along the way. Joseph started off struggling. Haydn's music gained the heart of the public, but the main purpose of his music was centered around and took a form of what is called “sonata”. Although, he befriended Mozart, and was an instructor of Beethoven, their music were similar, but different in some ways. Although, Mozart and Beethoven were younger than Haydn, their music were more on the contemporary, but took some similarities of Haydn's music of excellence. Haydn was mainly focused on “monothematic exposition “ which means it was similar to the opening theme(Hughes, 1970). In conclusion, Haydn's life increasingly expanded as he explored his talents as a young boy into becoming a prominent composer to become well known by the public as an excellent musician. As Wenborn(1997) states, Haydn has concluded his life as, “I live, I wrote, I spoke.” As Haydn went through the years, through the struggles and successes, this has paved the way for him to develop his skills into perfection, without others that were competing against to influence him.
