When people think of Joseph, many think of him as the man who saved Egypt or as a great ruler. Not many people realize that it took a lot of hard work for Joseph to get to that point. Yes, God blessed him and gave Joseph that position but Joseph also had to put in a lot of hard work to get to where God could use him. Joseph was the second youngest of Jacob and his mother was Rachel. Being born of Rachel, Joseph was automatically placed in good favor with Jacob. Jacob favored Joseph over his brothers and that caused Joseph’s brother’s to be jealous. This jealousy caused his brother’s to hate Joseph and to plan against him.

Joseph was no longer an overseer of a household but a whole nation. This is also where we can again see Joseph’s continuous servitude. Egypt was headed for a famine that would more than likely have wiped out the nation if they were not prepared for it.
His prosperity was of course by the blessings of God. Joseph could not get to where he was without Him. That being said, we can also see how that Joseph was a holy servant. He was not only willing to be used by God, but desired it as well and we can see how God was able to use him to prevent the annihilation of a race.
While the nation was in a famine, Egypt remained unaffected and was even able to help the surrounding areas by selling them wheat and grain. Joseph’s own family came to buy form them. This gave Joseph yet another opportunity to serve.
This is the part that I like to call Joseph’s secret service. His brothers had come down to buy from Egypt. They did not recognize Joseph and he kept it that way. While his brothers were on their way home with the grain they had bought, one of the brothers looked in his sack and found the money that they had just used was inside the sack. Joseph, in secret was able to serve and provide for his family and bless them a little in the
