Julius Caesar's Characters Can Foresee Their Own Fate

166 Words1 Pages
Throughout William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, omens and supernatural events play a prominent role. They are the cause of almost everything that happens as the play progress. However, they are not the only elements that affect the plot of the play. If the characters of this play were to interpret and respond to these strange occurrences differently, it could greatly alter their fates within the play. In this respect, Shakespeare does not imply that his characters can foresee their own destiny. On the contrary, he implies the opposite. He displays his characters as having control of their own fates, whether knowingly or unknowingly, through the way they interpret the omens and supernatural events that occur throughout the play.
