After watching the Julius Jones documentary, this case depicts racial injustice towards Julius Jones. I strongly believe this case has been controversial because of the substantial evidence demonstrating that Jones was innocent. The police system failed to identify an innocent man who looked nothing like the suspect. Unfortunately, being born African American was a disadvantage that led to an unfair trial which ultimately led to an unjust verdict. It is very unfortunate that Jones was accused of murdering Paul Howell, a white businessman from Edmond, Oklahoma, in 1999. I believe there is a lot of evidence that proves that Jones was innocent, such as his co-defendant showing signs of contradictory statements leading to his changing his story. One of Christopher's inmates said he was going to be free in fifteen years. If someone is talking about being freed, sharing details about the murder, and getting nervous when being questioned, why would they release him without questioning? In Jones' picture, you can observe his hair was short in his mugshot. Christopher Jordan had longer hair that fit the description the Howells sister described of the suspect. I believe Christopher Jordan framed Jones and stayed at his house with the intention of leaving the gun and red bandana he used that night of the murder. Jones happened to be with the wrong people, at the wrong time. Most of the jury on Julius Jones was white individuals that were racially biased. I strongly believe that it was not an unfair case because if those individuals felt victimized by an African American, they were obviously not going to support Jones’ trial.
